Roskilde Festival is proud to present a living legend. An artist who can elevate rock music in a way that makes the hair on your neck and arms obey immediately. It has been seven years since his last visit, and the plea for a return from our audience has been countless in the intervening years. Verder @ Roskilde '08: The Campbell Brothers (US) will transform Roskilde Festival into a swinging church service. The group consists of skilled musicians from a church called House of God. They play each other towards the boiling point with gospel rock and lots of "hallelujah." Shantel (DE) is the man who brought the Balkan beat into the European clubs where the sprouting wedding music is mixed with house and techno. With Bucovina Club Orkestar he fronts an eight man strong orchestra. Tumi and the Volume (ZA) are great proof of South Africa's growing hip hop scene. Their music is much suited for live settings and should be checked out if you are into organic hip hop with elements of jazz, funk and reggae. Judas Priest (UK) is the unavoidable and authentic band in heavy metal with long hair, studs and cartridge belts. This is the band who once defined true, disobeying rock attitude with "Breaking the Law". Bonnie ‘Prince' Billy is one of U.S.'s most mysterious and fascinating singer-songwriters. He is a master of singing about existence at its most naked and vulnerable state. The troubadour has released a long row of critically acclaimed albums since the early 90s. The Dillinger Escape Plan has been a defining band in the math-core genre. The band draws on both math-rock's protruding time signatures and the angry guitar grinding of hardcore. The band's live shows are known for being brutal and tightly executed affairs with an energetic front man. Kings of Leon play rural garage rock. The preacher's sons especially draw on the classic American guitar sound of the 70s, but their ambitious expression develops on each new album. Kings of Leon invite the audience to a Rock'n'Roll service where the crucifixes tremble and plaster comes down from above.
